Glass Turkey Raffle

Dear CPWD Parents,

We would like to thank you once again for all your help with the bottle drive – it was so successful and a little bit fun too, right? Thank you to all the people who didn’t need to earn any points but lent a hand anyway.
Even though we just finished one fundraiser, we would like to kick start our second and hopefully last one. We are nearly one third of the way to our fundraising goal and if we can make it all the way with this next one guess what??? No more fundraising!! Yay!

What we are asking is that each family donate alcoholic beverages. Once all beverages are collected we will begin selling raffle tickets to auction off the lot, made up into baskets decorated for Christmas.  Draw date for baskets would be early December. Our goal is to sell 1000 tickets at $5 each (or 3 for $10) which would mean that if each CPWD family sold one booklet we will have reached our fundraising goal for the year! Tah Dah! Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Points are awarded based on the following:

For one point:
- 6 cans/bottles of craft beer
- one bottle of wine
(if you donate 2 bottles of wine or 12 cans/bottles of craft beer you get 2 points)

For two points:
-20 ounce bottle of hard liquor

You can combine bottles for more points, too.

Our fundraising dollars are going to help the club update some equipment as well as purchase some new equipment. The money raised will be used for the benefit of all our swimmers and we are hoping we can get the help of our non-competitive members as well for this fundraiser.
We would like all donations for this fundraiser dropped off with one of us (at least one of us is at the pool 5 nights a week!) no later than Nov 10!  Once we have the bottles and the tickets printed we will be in touch with more details.

Thanks again for your continued support! We couldn’t do it without your help.

Santa Claus Parade 2014

Hello Water Dragon families,
As you all know, the bottle drive was a great success and helped inform the community of who we are.  We were thinking we should do that again in the Carleton Place BIA Evening Santa Claus Parade November 29th 2014.  We first need to know if any CPWD families would be interested in participating and helping in the organization of this parade.  Some volunteer points could also be awarded depending on your level of involvement.  We have not yet decided if we would simply walk the parade with our banner and our swimmers wearing our team swag or if we would be able to put a float together.  Again, we’re just looking for interest level at this time.  We do need an answer at your earliest convenience since registration time is now.
The theme this year is “Celebrate the Sparkle”.  We even have the possibility of winning an award for our creativity!  Wouldn’t that be something ;).
Please email your response to: by November 7th to help us decide together if this is something we’d like to be part of.
Thank you in advance,

Carleton Place Water Dragons Social Committee

Timerkeepers Clinic in 2 weeks!

If you have a swimmer on the Competitive Team and have been wondering how you will earn those Volunteer Points, here is the perfect opportunity to begin!

As we know, it takes an army off Officials to run a successful meet or time trial.  Our CPWD parents are needed to help the club… it can’t be done without YOU!

Did you know….. Championship meets require a volunteer for each swimmer who attends?  This is a mandate due to all meets being completely volunteer-run events.

Our first Timekeepers Clinic is on Saturday, October 18th in the Boardroom at the CP Pool.

Begins:   07:30             Ends:  10:00

There is no fee, and all materials are provided by the Instructor.

See you there!
