Head Coach: Jon Lester
I grew up here in Carleton Place and swam with the Dragons for 9 years. Since graduating, I pursued my swimming certifications while joining the family woodworking business. I currently have my NCCP Level 1 coaching certificate and am committed to earning my Level 2 in the near future so that I am able to coach our swimmers at National Level meets when their hard work and dedication bring them there. I have been coaching the Dragons for 5 years and coached our swimmers at the Ontario SC Provincial Age Group Championships this Spring 2014.
I will be discussing individual goals with all swimmers and developing personalized strategies for each swimmers’ success accordingly. I strongly feel that each swimmer should be treated individually. While my training structure encompasses all swimmers, planning for meets will be done with your son’s or daughter’s personal goals in mind.
I will be focusing on the overall health and well being of our Team, as well, to lessen the chance of sports-related injuries as we increase our practice time in the water. Bringing in guest speakers who will speak to proper nutrition, strength training, and proper warm-up preparation are a few examples.
I look forward to working with all our swimmers and coaches, and to welcoming all new Dragons and parents to the fun and excitement.
Assistant Coach: To Be Announced
The swimmer coaches work under the guidance of the Head Coach. All of these coaches currently swim competitively for, or have swam for, the Water Dragons. This gives them the ability to relate to the developing swimmer while they foster the club spirit and the sense of accomplishment for the swimmer. They also keep the “fun” of learning to swim in the sessions they coach. The swimmer coaches are members of the Canadian Coaching and Swimmers Teaching Association (CCSTA).
